Apple releases a new version of the OS X Lion Developer Preview

Apple released a new update of Mac OS X Lion developers at the end of Wednesday. Preview is the second version of the OS X Lion to be released to registered developers Mac for testing. The new version is build 11A419, while the previous compilation used ID code 11A390.

It is not yet clear new compilation brings to the table. We have detailed some of the changes in the OS X lion in the preceding subparagraphs, and reports suggest that a number of stability improvements must be made to the OS before General Release sees it, so perhaps some of these are included in this update.

Apple is said by some to be close to release candidate GM, which immediately precedes the arrival of public transport version. OS X Lion film release in the summer, as soon as possible, as , the Conference of the WWDC planned for June 6-10. At least you'll probably see a version of the operating system much closer to the width of the Release previewed at the event.

Apple turns 35: where can it Go From Here?

April 1 marks the 35th birthday of Apple Computer, Inc., and though the name has changed (it dropped “Computer” in 2007), the company has undergone major organizational upheaval, and Apple isn’t doing the same kind of business it was in 1977, the company is still a leader when it comes to innovation. Can we expect that to continue for another 35 years?

When News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch launched The Daily, the iPad-specific daily newspaper, he said in an interview that Steve Jobs was responsible for the invention of the personal computer, then the laptop, and now the ongoing destruction of both. Murdoch may not be entirely right about the specifics here (no doubt Steve Wozniak would argue that he should at least share credit for the “invention” of the PC, though the MITS Altair and Tandy tape-based computers predated any Apple efforts), but he’s right that Apple was instrumental in the early popularization and spread of personal computing. And he’s also correct that Apple’s iPhone and iPad are strong catalysts in how the very notion of computing is being re-shaped right now.

Steve Jobs recently coined a term that describes the new phase of computing ushered in by smartphones, tablets and other connected devices: post-PC. The use of the term spawned countless debates about whether or not we can claim to be actually living in a post-PC era yet, or about whether Jobs can use that term to describe the use of devices that are still, in many ways, very dependent on PCs for syncing and media management. But whatever your opinion on whether we’re or not we’re truly entering the post-PC era, it’s clearly the direction in which we’re headed, judging by the iPad’s continued success, the ongoing worldwide growth of smartphones, and efforts by all of Apple’s competitors to successfully break into the tablet market.

As the post-PC market evolves, Apple faces possibly its greatest challenge yet: deploying strong cloud-based service offerings. Amazon just this week introduced its Cloud Player and Cloud Drive, beating Apple to the punch with a cloud-based music “locker” type offering that the Mac-maker has apparently been trying to negotiate with record labels. Google is also ahead of Apple in terms of cloud services, thanks to its free Google sync services including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Reader and many others. These provide single sign-in setup for Android device owners, whereas iPhone and iPad owners currently have to pay for MobileMe to get many of the same features on their devices.

Apple also has yet to reveal any firm plans or intentions to offer any kind of streaming subscription for music or other media, despite many reports of the company’s attempts to set up partnerships that would make such services a reality. Streaming media services are on the rise, both in terms of number and subscribers, and Apple risks being left behind as major players like Amazon and Google begin moving in that direction.

Apple throws the word “revolutionary” around quite a bit (almost as much as PR folks, in fact), but it would be a mistake to dismiss this as mere marketing hyperbole. The company has consistently introduced products that change the face of the consumer electronics industry, and few, if any, could’ve predicted their arrival beforehand. That means that, to some degree, trying to pin down Apple’s future plans will always be a slippery task.

Of course, it’s almost impossible to discount the role of Steve Jobs, who, no matter what your personal opinion regarding his medical prognosis, cannot lead the company forever. Will Apple lose the ability to be a motivating force for market upheaval when he’s gone? I say no, because Apple has a corporate culture based, from the top-down, on fostering innovation and creativity. Maintaining that at such a high rate of success for 35 years is not something any one person can manage through force of will alone. Apple’s executive team works together to do this, and will continue to do so.

What do you think Apple’s next 35 years have in store?

Apple WWDC will grow in the face of sell-outs?

When the event sells in record time as 2011 Worldwide Developers Conference only took, one always wonders Why event organizers didn't See the closest and expand as necessary. But if you're looking for an event such as WWDC, there are many factors that Apple is to consider before taking this step.

San Francisco Moscone Center certainly can hold more than traditional participants 5000 generally allocated WWDC. Apple may decide to use the full center of the Convention and take places North and South. But location is not an issue. In reality though, moving to the location as Las Vegas could potentially hold all Apple registered developers (each ticket purchase), without issue.

So if you keep things small and keeping the Conference for only 5,000 participants is what Apple has is the key to the success of the Conference, puling off then maybe simulcasting to multiple locations or repeating events in different regions of the world is a better way to deal with the increase in demand.  This makes perfect sense in entertainment, where entertainers are looking to maximize the time spent in front of the fans.  But WWDC is about Entertainment, and as Apple would like to spend more time with developers, is not nearly so easy to do remotely.

That leaves only one limited resources as the real reason Apple cannot afford to expand the WWDC to accommodate more programmers.  Presentations and materials, which are a highly WWDC are of superior quality (speaking from personal experience).  Each presentation is lead by an Apple engineer. During WWDC 2010 one of the presenters were live show will be badly, and started as a presenter he began to choke.  Within minutes the second presenter stepped up and took the alternative demonstration and proceeded on schedule without someone going-away feeling like they had missed out on something.  In other words, Apple shall at the same time and energy in its Conference is doing products, and that becomes much harder to do when you start playback size.

As long this Apple insists that the speakers are all WWDC Apple engineers, and other associates in relation to the product, and then WWDC will continue to sell in record time.  Pulling out of the quality of the annual Conference, using the very employees can also depend on the core business is a very expensive.  The location is probably will never due to its proximity to the very resources (Apple) thanks to the great success of the Conference.  It will also probably never to be repeated in different locales, taking Apple. relentless release schedules for their products (taking time off for the Conference threatens this schedule).  The only chance would be likely to be simulcast event in the world, and such events ever occurring at this scale in many places around the world also would be difficult and costly to conduct — probably more than crystallizing the ultimate reward.  So be prepared is akin to connect to the Internet in 2012, because ticket sales are likely to break records WWDC yet again the next year, because Apple is not liable to result in large changes even in the face of strong demand.

Apple Announces WWDC dates beginning June 6, 2011

Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference will be held commencing on 6 June this year at Moscone West in San Francisco. The Conference lasts for five days, running until 10 June, and Apple says the focus of the Conference will be the future of the iOS and Mac OS X while Apple makes that it does not contain a press, a company usually presents its annual refresh hardware iPhone on we hear at WWDC.

Apple official announcement focuses mainly on aspects of the developer-oriented Conference and contains a list of events: technical sessions, Apple engineers on hand to developers can benefit from detailed and awards project Apple, which reward excellence in the design of the application.

From the consumer's point of view, there are three things that WWDC will be worth for: OS X Lion, iOS (5) and iPhone (5). The lion is the Castle, as Apple has already previewed the new Mac OS and announced it was aiming for a release of WWDC for OS X 10.7, and is almost sure Apple will unveil new iPhone again for events presentation (probably 7 June)as developed consistently with the new iPhone iteration. iOS 5 is slightly more of the unknown, since some rumors are predicting a fall release for the new mobile operating system. In my view, is a safe bet that at least we can see a preview version of what's coming in the iOS 5 WWDC.

What do you think we will see, that is new and exciting at this year's event?

Apple charts new future for iOS map — without Google?

New job posting rose Apple, suggesting the company continues to move in the direction of his own plans for the mobile map, separately from Google. In accordance with the Accounting, iOS maps Application Developer in Cupertino would "radically improve the use of maps and location-based services." Design the user interface is a necessity, as well as the "passion" for technology based on location.

Certainly there is the possibility of improvements in the current application maps, which had relatively few updates outward from introduced with the original iPhone back in 2007. Despite the power of Google Maps, the map does not compare with iOS at the latest on Android. The lack of function in this turn by turn directions, 3D maps, topography, offline maps and information about places. While Apple is clearly as Google map app development, it would not be entirely accurate to say the companies were ignoring map services.

In 2009, Apple PlaceBaseacquired, data mapping, and service provider in 2010, also purchased another mapping company, Tony. In both cases, the workers, as well as the software went to Apple. Also last year, Apple made a major internal changes to the map. Starting with iOS 3.2 on the iPad, with iOS 4 on all devices, Apple began using their own databases instead of those belonging to the Skyhook Wireless and Google for information about the location.

Preview iOS 5 expects in the next month may not have to wait long to find out whether Apple plans to take complete control of the app map iOS that year. Rumors mobileme development suggests a new localization services and Find My Friends are in the warehouse. It is not difficult to imagine, maps friends and recommended places imposes as layers on the built-in app Apple maps and dynamically updated. Social networking functionality, combined with more services map, would be Welcome in iOS, 5, and one that Apple would gain some ground over the competition.

Of course there is also a risk in replacing the current software maps, too. Google has spent years of continuously improving the moving map software, and less than impressive 1.0 maps Apple actually could hurt platform iOS (especially if it lacks wow factor functions, such as Google Street view). The Problem is to wait until next year would be iOS 6 only see Google increase market share, while the version of the Apple map continue to languish. From the perspective of the consumer, the best solution is probably to co-exist alongside the current Apple maps powered by Google maps, such as iBooków and Kindle for e-readers. However, that would mean further reliance on Google for a critical part of the platform for iOS, and that it would be very UN Apple indeed.

Kodak meets another time Polaroid in Apple, RIM dispute

Updated. Judgment today on whether Apple and research in motion violated a patent held by Kodak, you can add more than $ 1 billion revenue for the company's bottom line, according to camera Kodak CEO Antonio Perez (via Bloomberg), but only if the court overturns the existing judgments against Kodak.

Update: , the ITC ruled that will review the findings of the judge from January to say RIM and Apple does not infringe the patent Kodak's. ITC will have a final decision by 23 May.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) will be the ultimate arbiter of Kodak fate in this matter. Judge Paul Luckern had already ruled in January that Apple and RIM is not in violation of patents, which describe the Kodak system image previews on camera phones. However, Kodak settled with Samsung and LG for allegedly infringing on the patent, netting a total of nearly 1 billion dollars from the two companies Combined license after these companies were faced with the possibility of being shut off from the market image of the U.S..

While ITC cannot assign criminal cash in cases such as this, it is possible to block imports of products infringe on patents finds us, which means the iPhone and BlackBerry may be blocked from sale in the United States if the ITC finds in favour of Kodak. Because that would mean a huge amount of lost revenue, companies often to settle in advance instead of a judgment and avoid the order. Currently, the decision shall specify whether the ITC review by a judge, findings, and if so, the final decision in this case would be forthcoming by May 23.

The rates are high in this case, but much more so than for enterprises is the Kodak claiming infringed on its patents. Win a Kodak means stimulating for his picture of the overall revenue, because the resulting royalties would be pure profit without load outside of legal fees in the case. Jim Kelleher, an analyst with Argus Research indicates that "most of the companies operating the Kodak lose money," so the IP this significant income stream significantly add to 838 million dollars it made to the patents last year. Income from patent royalties continues to eclipse the Kodak takes its income from other business lines, including cameras, printers and software. We reached to Kodak comment on what a loss would mean for business, but have yet to hear back. Will update if necessary.

If the ruling goes against Kodak, could potentially Cut off the ability of firms to determine claims for any other revenue of patents related to the use of camera phone image previews. In 1989, for example, Kodak lost a patent battle with Polaroid instant photography forand essentially had to cede the then lucrative market completely to the Polaroid. Digital images will ultimately force cylindrical steamrolled space instant camera, but still missed out on a Kodak billions in potential revenue.

Apple and RIM are, Kodak countersued Apple in Federal Court and filed a complaint against Kodak with ITC, too, after presentation of the original complaint, Kodak. Apple and RIM stand to take a hit on their gross margins, if Kodak succeeds, but if an image fails, faces the loss of many, many more.

AirPlay licensing transaction may be Apple real living room Play

Apple is considering offering AirPlay streaming video of third-party equipment manufacturers through licensing Bloomberg reports. Is the idea, which can provide a greater presence of Apple in the living room, but also potentially cost Apple TV where its original level.

Bloomberg cites "two people familiar with the project" as describing a new plan for Apple is considering, according to which it licenses to the makers of televisions, AirPlay radio receivers and other consumer electronics that allow video playback. Currently AirPlay tech is available for licensed use, but only for audio streaming, as Denon receiver Geoffrey last checked out the. Add the ability to stream video would mean users could potentially stream content from their iOS devices or iTunes libraries directly to their TV or home entertainment installation, without the need for Apple TV or tethered iOS device to act as receiver.

A transaction, go to, this could potentially allow Apple to develop its presence in the living room. Apple have not yet been able to successfully from your digital video distribution way is from the sale of music on-line and recent study found the final leader of the industry and the loss of by a wide margin. Part of this gap has to do with how Netflix is available on such a wide choice of devices, such as Internet-connected televisions, gaming consoles, computers, mobile devices and even Apple TV. Licensing AirPlay streaming video would unlock the building Apple products, allowing you to begin to compete and losses from the standpoint of consumer platform choice.

Greater availability of facilities would be also better AirPlay leverage user impressive iOS base Apple managed to accumulate. Right now, is really only AirPlay value added feature if you have an entire ecosystem of products Apple. If you have only one iPhone or the iPad, there is little that AirPlay brings to the table. Licensing would increase in the value of AirPlay as a characteristic of a sale for every device iOS.

The relationship is, of course, that consumers would have one less reason to buy an Apple TV. Right now, a significant part of the reference equipment is only two of its features. The first is a great client and losses. Secondly, it runs trouble-free and without much effort for users who want to stream video from iOS device to the TV. Sales almost certainly could fall if Apple made AirPlay more available from other sources.

But that may be the loss of Apple is willing to accept. At the end of the famous count Apple TV has sold over a million units at the end of December. Is the number of good, especially compared to the sales made by its predecessor, but it is not Apple TV sales star that the iPhone or iPad, and Apple has not seen fit to crow about any other sales milestones for the device, which is not a Great sign for its fortunes. In the event of the death of Apple TV, but in return, Apple gains a wider foothold in the living room, which can be used as leverage in negotiations with content providers, and may be a viable opportunity for Mac manufacturer.

What do you think? If "AirPlay on video" stickers on televisions and home cinema receivers affect purchasing decisions? If Apple TV has legs without exclusive AirPlay?

Deal may accommodate touch Apple rivals

Apple may be on the verge of making a touch panel supply much more limited than it is already on the market a mobile device in the face of the crisis in Japan. New DigiTimes report Wednesday ( AppleInsiderthrough) says Apple in talks with producers of touchpad Taiwanese, and Mac is ready to pay more of the manufacturer, to secure "sufficient supplies" for their products.

The capacity of the touchpad is reportedly limited in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan almost two weeks ago. Foxconn, the company makes many touchscreen Apple products in China, are said to have two to three weeks worth of stockpiled, but may face a shortage of after that if you do not improve the situation in Japan, which could lead to the production of freezing. This is something Apple wants to avoid at all charge, taking into account the continuing success of its iPad 2 and upcoming international launch this device this Friday.

If the report is true, Apple may be paying quite a lot more touch panels, which hit the gross margins. But as what is likely to be in at least two ways. Firstly, Apple could still meet (or at least comes close to meeting) at the request of the client. Lines are good for Apple, as long as people standing in those lines actually have a reasonable chance of getting their hands on the device. Total disappointment, not stockouts would demand.

The second way Apple could benefit from purchasing even a larger percentage of the restricted stock is by reducing the availability of the same parts for its closest competitors. iPad competition is heating up with producers such as RIM enter dates and prices on their own tablet PC offers. If some additional expenditure on the part of Apple, you can generally raise the prices of the products of a competitor, and might even affect the ability of competitors to enter the products on the market in a timely manner, will help only the market position of the iPad.

Apple is known for its safety components, so it would not be surprising to see a company make this philosophy a step in order to protect at the time of instability in the supply chain. Watch for signs of whether this strategy pay in the coming weeks the iPad 2 rolls more countries and competitors trying to placing on the market.

Apple Mac Chief departs, where large changes come to OS X

Apple SVP of engineering software Mac Betrand Serlet leaves the company, according to a press release published by Apple. It will be replaced by Craig Federighi, VP software engineering Mac Apple. Frederighi by the main responsibility in the Apple was the development of OS X.

Serlet, who joined Apple in 1997 and worked with Steve Jobs at next before that and his key role in the Mac, the manufacturer shall include assistance in the drafting of the preliminary draft and the evolution of Mac OS X, who holds Serlet PhD computer science at the University of Orsay in France, is said to be leaving the business in order to conduct more scientific participation in pursuits. In his own words:

We've worked with Steve 22 years and had a wonderful time for the development of products for the next and Apple, but at this point I want to focus less on the products and more science. Craig has done well managing a team of Mac OS in the past two years, the lion is a great release and the transition should be seamless.

Federighi, which replaces Serlet, also spent during the next with Steve Jobs and joined Apple, too, before leaving for Ariba, commerce companies. He spent 10 years at Ariba, eventually become c, and returned to Apple in 2009 to head OS X engineering efforts. Has a degree of Master of Science in computer science from the University of California.

At departure Serlet comes as Apple continues to move toward the type of account, represented by its iOS platforms mobile. OS X Lion, which is available as a developer preview borrows many features and significant part of his changes in the user interface platform for mobile. In this light, it's easy to think Serlet's departure as a sign that Apple is putting OS X on the bottom of the desktop roots. OS x is essentially Serlet by creating in many ways and has been a focus of his task from the creation of the Apple iPhone and two different OS platforms. Federighi is relative newcomer for OS X, and the benefits of not having been closely involved in the creation of this operating system, leaving him with a broader vision of what can be.

Another option used are related to suggest this is realized, it will be Serlet never see top billing in the company as Ceo of so many other qualified candidates occupying the higher rank of Apple. Exit now may shall give him the opportunity to step into this role in other organizations. This is not very likely, though, taking into account the fact that Serlet has worked with jobs for 22 years and probably had very well with how high you can climb on Apple.

For whatever reason, Serlet exit strongly breaks era in Apple. It could not charge most public companies, but participated in the creation experience Mac Apple-defined approach to processing by more than a decade.

Why is Apple Suing Amazon is in the right traffic

Amazon opened its own app store today Android devices, and thus it brought down the wrath of Apple. The Reason? Amazon calls its market software "Appstore" which you can Note, is not unlike the Apple "App Store" where Mac manufacturer sells applications for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It is Apple accused of Herodion of infringing on its trademark App Store.

It is reasonable to think that Apple is small claiming ownership of the two frequently used words. The term "app store," after all, has been around for years; Generally speaking, people don't like it when companies claim rights to a relatively neutral language. Critics have marks, right on their side: the company may not claim exclusive rights, where the term is merely descriptive. But this does not mean Apple is not justified in going after the Amazon.

Apple, after all, he was awarded the mark of the App Store by the Office of trademarks and Patent in the USA in 2010. Microsoft is formally opposing the registration of a trade markand an official ruling on the objection is pending. If Microsoft is successful, it may mean the end of the case of Apple against Amazon. Until that happens, however, the iPhone manufacturer is well within their rights to go after Amazon. Lawyer Evan Brown Internet cases explains why the term "App Store" is a fair basis for legal action on behalf of Apple:

[T] here is an important exception to the rule, not the rights to trade marks for descriptive terms, and this exception is probably what Apple is relying on: the term "acquired distinctiveness." Simply stated, if the company can demonstrate that it has been used a descriptive name so widely, that society has come to associate the term descriptive in your company, the company may have trademark rights in that period. Apple obviously will try to show that took great efforts (read: marketing $ $) to get the public to associate the App Store with its brand. Degree can do, that it may succeed against Amazon.

What Apple is trying to do is to avoid what happened with the Kleenex and Xerox: to avoid diluting its brand by allowing words to become part of our lexicon. So when Apple App Store may not be the only entity to which the General term "app store" descriptive apply, and even if Apple didn't Coin the term, if people think that "Apple" when they hear the term "app store", the company has a position legally justified. I find it difficult to believe that the "app store" specifically is more generally related to smartphones as a general category, than with Apple and the iPhone.

And not only may sue Apple, but it should. App Store has become a very powerful marketing tool and accompanying branding iOS devices. You may argue that a list of the extensive software ensures App Store is now number one competitive advantage of Apple's devices have over their competitors. App gap narrows, but still represents a significant chasm and one worth defending vigorously. The transfer of ownership of the term "app store" means losing mindshare, which in turn would hasten the decline of the advantage of third-party software.

Apple may return multiple friendship among tech watchers or gadget fans by suing the defence of their trade marks store app, but simply because the rate of shares is unpopular does not mean it is wrong. Amazon knew could be strengthened on the Tiger's tail in the naming of its market, Appstore, and without a doubt, too, was prepared for the consequences. All that remains to be seen is now whether the upstart face, iceweasel costly.

What does it mean for Apple Deal AT&T/T-Mobile

AT&T intends to buy T-Mobile within the next year, the company revealed Sunday. It is far from done deal as still has to pass the Assembly with U.S. regulatory authorities, but if you have AT&T taking additional U.S. wireless industry away from Verizon top, what can Apple device users expect to gain or lose from the transaction?

After the first T-Mobile for iPhone, after all, according to a statement made during a conference call is AT&T/T-Mobile Monday morning to discuss details of the proposed transaction. Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO, mobility and consumer markets on AT&T, said that customers of T-Mobile will have access to industry-leading portfolio of devices, which will include those from Apple, Microsoft, and RIM in response to a question at AT&T analyst wants to offer to make the transaction smakowicie to U.S. regulators.

The Declaration does not guarantee, however, is excessive and may refer to the iPad. There is still potential for technical barriers, and the new deal would be reached with Apple in order to increase the availability of equipment to another network (AT&T seems intent to store brands, at least on the basis of the first report).

T-Mobile GSM network, while, do not use common spectrum used by the AT&T (or other global GSM networks). Subtle differences means that although unlocked from RTM API will work on your network, as of now, there is no way to access 3 G from from RTM API. Instead, users are restricted to the edge for data connections. To resolve this, after plans for the acquisition of AT&T T-Mobile AWS spectrum for its long term evolution network and go T-Mobile subscribers over to AT&T on the current network 3 G after the close of the transaction and the network is rejiggered T-Mobile subscribers will be able to use a network AT&T(which should be strengthened thanks to the T-Mobile Towers) for the iPhone.

If everything goes as smoothly as possible with the acquisition, Apple include the small crowd of those who benefit from the transaction. You can get access to additional subscribers 34 million, and plans for work, will be AT&T 46.5 million more leads LTE in when he finally zrolowany 4 G devices. That the planned deployment of LTE will see AT&T automation, T-Mobile 1700 MHz wireless spectrum, which is bad news for existing T-Mobile 3 G device owners, because this is the frequency with which the company is using to communicate on the 3 G is good news for users of jailbroken, from RTM API unlocked, though, since it should be clearly using T-Mobile EDGE 1900 MHz network, and actually should gain access to the network 3 G company AT&T on the same spectrum, too, which will replace the T-Mobile.

Persons who wish to purchase Apple products can be beneficial in the short term by the new range of mobile networks and network infrastructure to support better from RTM API and iPads, but a more worrying problem is that the transaction would make U.S. cellular landscape is significantly less competitive. Canada is a good example of how you can have a seriously detrimental impact on individual users, because it basically only has two or three main carriers depending on where you are. iPhone customers in Canada, you can choose between different carriers, but all three require a 3-year contracts for new purchases in order to obtain the subsidy same U.S. clients use to House 2-year, and the fixing of prices is essentially the same, regardless of where the appearance. In this case, an extended availability, does not mean increased competition.

The last thing to remember is that all this is a long way off. AT&T and T-Mobile still have extensive regulatory hurdles to jump in getting transactions approved and so will probably have to be some renegotiation of existing transactions between Apple and AT&T. short does not affect product purchase plans, and 2011 does not influence a decision 2012, either.

iPad 2 international launch still on track, says Apple

With the stock shortage in the United States and potential supply chain woes after the earthquake in Japanwas starting to look like Apple the first round of the international releases for iPad 2 is in danger of slipping. March 25, the date is still valid, however, according to several sources Apple.

TechRadar received confirmation today, U.K. production remains 25, through the spokesman for Apple, which said the site, that "[e] verything that is on the website is still in force; the website says on March 25, and then it will be. "25 March is still listed as the date of the official launch on the website of the UK and other international sites Apple, which were announced as part of the second group launch, except for Japan, where Apple has been delayed start in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunamiwhich recently Devastated the country.

Other international starts also seems to be on the track. Employee of the Apple Store told me that the staff had been briefed and prepared to March 25, starting here in Canada, too, with the only possible reason for delays cited as "unpredictable weather affecting shipment times", indicating the item is not yet in stores, but it is expected before Friday.

An Apple Store did not comment on whether or not to run would be afternoon one, as in the case in the United States, where the iPad 2 went on sale on 5 local time, but expect the LINEST function to form. Apple has not yet announced plans to sell on-line international Apple Store, either, but it is safe to assume that at this stage, there will be no pre-order ahead of Friday.

Who's hitting up their local Apple Store to run international 2 's iPad?

Apple to get serious about cloud with the free MobileMe in April?

Earlier this month, Macerkopf de claimed "trusted" sources revealed plans by Apple for events only to software in the first or second week of April. The event would be a preview of the iOS 5 and stimulate MobileMe, which were previously considered for the event 2 announcement iPad, which was not the case. According to rumor to better integrate with iOS 5 and MobileMe expects, as well as more social networking, such as Find My Friends and remote photography and media streams.

Referring to the "trusted source" in the "major educational institutions iLounge ", is also now also predicting recovery MobileMe in April. New, free version of the online services will seem to co-exist alongside the current version of the paid for next year. Probably it would be unfortunate to those like myself sufficiently recently renewed their MobileMe account, but without Apple having to offer a refund or credit. However, the deprecated service running next to the charge seems very confusing and very characters for Apple, and I think its more likely free service could co-exist next to other paid levels.

The ability to preview direct iOS 5 too seems likely. Last year, iOS 4 preview of the multi-tasking has shown that, Game Center, IADs and AirPrint, although the last was eventually scaled back from earlier incarnation. Perhaps you'll receive updates on this year iOS AirPrint, which extends support beyond a few select printers.

As for MobileMe retail boxes last stop is probably the best indicator of an imminent renewal. In addition, have been widely Rozpuszczano that some kind of storage place for multimedia, music and video, will be part of the service. The most interesting social network features that have been talked about is for the service is New personal home page,, dynamically updated based on where you are and what you are doing.

While the "free" is probably the most expected feature of potential new MobileMe, personally to domains hosted by Apple. What features are you looking for in the new MobileMe?

What are the options Apple video and losses in the war?

According to NPD, the iTunes Store accounted for only 4 percent of video downloaded or streamed through February this year in the United States, so that only one of many also-rans final and losses, which dominates from 61 per cent. Twisting the knife, at least part of the success and its loss as a result of direct Apple. More than million nine hundred iOS devices you can stream content and loss, and in January and announced that the Apple TV "in just four months after the iPad also growing and the loss of viewing hours." As a company as savvy as Apple's open the door to such strong competition in the area of digital video?

Is the success of the strategy for the music company (iTunes Store accounts for about 66% of the retail selling music in the USA), which has done most to hurt Apple video efforts. Fairly or not, the managers of the music industry, not to mention aging rock start Jon Bon Jovi, see Apple's success, at least partially "responsible for the killing." Movie studio and TV network executives are certainly wary of their victims similar success.

The collapse of the last of the introduction of the rent television for the iTunes Store, Jeff Zucker, CEO of NBC whether asserted NBC "don't treat 99 cents is the right price for our content." Since then, ABC and FOX remain the only network television rental. The situation seems even worse for Apple's rumored long video streaming service. Going back to 2009, plan to offer content to around $ 30 per month, has repeatedly failed there, despite the fact that this very similar to what a parent or loss offers And which may be as Apple changes the situation.

By appealing to concerns about network and television studios, Apple could position itself as an alternative to dominance and losses, a strategy similar to Amazon's Kindle to be used against the iBookstore. Unfortunately, that would probably involve more favorable for content providers than Apple seems to be willing to offer, but that difference can partly be composed by the applicable subscription fees, 30 percent of the accounts and losses coming in the iOS devices. If then and losses pulled the app from the App Store instead of complying with the new subscription policy, consumers would have the iTunes Store offering equivalent stream (if, of course, you can persuade studios on board). Apple risks alienating users by forcing Neflix to choice between leaving and compatible with the structure of the fees for the subscription, but you can always backtrack if you run a significant number of hemorrhaging.

If the above is how big a risk, however, is enormous. At least some Android devices will soon gain and loss, and is now available on a wide range of different platforms, including all major home video game consoles. And losses is also much better value than iTunes rentals or purchases, from $ 8 to grant unrestricted access users. If Apple continues with better and cheaper way to sell your own video wares, may be better off concentrating their efforts on ensuring that partners and losses continue to Welcome in the ecosystem of the App Store, travel to abandon the platform and take a large number of users together with them.

New iPhone ads, Apple games Strengths … and iBooków?

Apple released a trio of new iPhone ads, all of which are available on its website and on YouTube. All advertising share the slogan "If you do not have the iPhone" and focus on key features of the platform exclusivity, which are not available to other devices. Apple is a good idea to highlight areas where supplanting it, but I'm left scratching his head at Why iBooków is one of the three function highlighted.

The first three ads focus on the App Store, which is an obvious choice. Apple still owns the app market, despite the rapid growth of the software available on the Android platform, so when Apple makes the claim that Android users do not have access to the largest choice of applications, there is nothing to dispute.

The same with the second ad, which talks about iPhone iPod app and iTunes music store access. Apple wins on the distribution of digital music and media player space has ruled almost as long as it was one of the rules and not likely to be ceding that market quickly vanished, despite new competition.

The last ad is the one that sticks. It argues that if you do not have an iPhone, you are missing out on the iBooków and the iBookstore. This is true, but it is very difficult to landslide competitive platform iOS in the way in which they are App Store and iTunes. Apple may use the same formula for all three ads (iPhone has access x storage, which provides content for use on the device), but during the first two seem to be selling the iPhone using the platform as a zachetyUpieralbym that makes this a contradiction of the last.

IBookstore failed to gain traction is a genus of Amazon's Kindle storefront and an application that is cross-platform and had a significant head start in the market for e-books. After he returned to October 2010 TUAW posted red review of the status iBooków, and the situation has not changed much, although Apple has now Random House stable, in addition to his original five partners to publish the main iBookstore. Even with the addition of Apple is still only about 200 000 titles, while over 800,000 hectoliters Kindle store on the last count.

Also, Apple is reached the grounds for excluding from the Kindle come June 30, when Mac manufacturer begins enforcing it in an application, such as content, purchase policy, which would see the Amazon to stop cutting 30 percent of sales of the book through its applications iOSi prevent offering links to their own storefront. The inclusion of Apple iBooków in this latest campaign ads may be subtle move on the part of Apple to new knowledge, its own alternative Kindle it prepares the possibility of loss of Amazon's popular solution e read completely, but ultimately, it serves only to remind that the iBooków is the Apple the most needed to work on improvements.

Veit illustrates the power of the Apple II

I'm looking forward to read your subscriptions from David Greelish from the book "Stan Veit's history of the personal computer". (It is the owner of The Classic Greelish Computing blog and recently started a new podcast, The Retrocomputing Roundtable). You can find both of these podcasts on the iTunes store as free podcasts, or listen to material written by Stan Veit Greelish here on the Web. What it was about listening to the first three chapters of the book is that Veit it really illustrates to me just how revolutionary Apple II was when she appeared on the market. Veit book talks about the difficulties in the use of machinery in the pre-Apple II, which were available. Usually need to have the ticker for comfortable input/output; "glass teletype" (video Terminal) had a price that was beyond the reach of most early fans. Saving programs has not been easy, either. If the user had one of the teletypes, often had the papertape punch and reader included, so they could "Save" their programs on punched tape. There were some tapes interface, but it was as difficult as the Apple II, maybe Yes.

Difficulties is reminded of when you use the Altair, IMSAI, and other pioneering microcomputer just makes me appreciate the many built-in functions offered by the Apple II. In the day, when you "glass teletypes" were also too expensive, in particular in the event that it the color of the, was the Apple II, would come in handy when you do that, or the regular color TVs if not. Cassette interface for saving and loading programs? Built-in. The ability to increase the RAM from 4 to full 48 kB, when the cost of RAM low enough? No problem. Keyboard? Part Of It. Sound? Absolutely! (How many Altairs or IMSAIs can sound back in 1977?)

Thank you David and his efforts to bring Greelish Stan Veit's history of life as a subscriptions! Strengthen its recognition as a clever Woz was.

Apple App Store ecosystem grows together with Mac sales

The latest report covering the app store sales from research firm Distimo is, and offers revealing insights into the early success of Mac App Store and as a comparison of this latest extension of the sales of software for digital Apple iPhone, iPad and competitive market app. the report contains some of the key takeaways for programmers working in Apple's software ecosystem.

The message is good for Apple. Only two months to run, applications in the top 300 on a Mac App Store now generates half as much income as a single in the top 300 on the iPad App Store. Taking into account the age of the distribution channel, and the fact that the Mac App Store is not guaranteed on each generally found Mac running OS X (only shipped with OS X 10.6.6, officially released on Jan 6 and not all users maintain their OS up-to-date) means only those numbers should continue to increase with the growing acceptance among the general population of the Mac user.

This is good news for developers, too, because according to the report, the average price for a Mac App Store ($ 11.21) in the list of the top 300 sale is seven times greater than the average price of the iPhone app ($ 1.57) and three times greater than the iPad app ($ 4.19). Also free applications are much more of the rarity of the platform. Only 12 per cent of the applications on the Mac App Store is free. If revenues remain high as a Mac App Store load and scale grows, it may become a haven for developers, who are wary to compete to the basement of the opportunity offered by the iOS App stores.

Here a real chance as you can see is for developers to earn on the availability of all three platforms connected by offering solutions for each. So far, only 173 publishers distribute applications in more than one warehouse and Mac App Store is one of those multiple shops in only 5% of cases. Offering applications on all platforms of the three benefits of multiple applications, providing a way to promote growth for the brand, which are strong in the area of iOS, but yet you do not have a presence on the platform, OS X, and how to counterbalance revenue per unit low short by iOS with higher prices offer based on the Mac. Developers hoping to gain greater visibility in the App Store ecosystem should be also noted that Apple seeks to highlight applications that appear in all of its platforms, and even built a special section dedicated to home those titles (App Store link).

A new report, Distimo shows also the Apple App Store ecosystem still before the Android store by a wide margin, particularly as regards the availability of applications paid, even if the supply of App iPhone and iPad are seen as separate entities. IPhone App Store alone possess 314,644 applications in their entirety, while the market for Android has approximately 175,000.

Mac App Store has about 2,674 applications available, which is significantly less than the iPad App Store applications 8,099 had available two months after its launch, but unlike the iPad, Mac App Store not only (officially approved) the method of distribution available for the platform software. The option to continue the Boxed sale, direct digital downloads and other platforms for the distribution of the software as they undoubtedly contributes to slower developer investment in Apple solutions.

One final key takeaway from Distimo report is that the Mac App Store seems to be prompting to restart interest in Mac gaming area where computing platform Apple has traditionally been lacking. Distimo was found that almost 40 percent of the most popular applications Mac App Store are games which applications performance and tools coming in a distant second with just over 10 percent each. Personally, I already more games form Mac App Store than other types of software and the availability of a marquee titles such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Call of Duty 4 in addition to the more casual titles augurs future Mac Games.
