S&M - Rihanna

by Michael Burke Im overwhelmed by the quality of each song... each song brings its own flavor to the near perfect CD. Shes back with an anthem, club staple and power ballad. This album has everything we have ever loved about Rihanna. And for those who have yet to come to terms with their love for her this is the album to do it. Rihanna we hear you LOUD and clear. LIKE IF YOU AGREE!!!

by L L Aw, man. This had to be one the most anticpated albums of the year!! Unfortunately, it falls so far in comparison to Rated R. Not very suprising though. This cd ws put out almost exactly a year before. And you can tell. There are absolutely ZERO standout songs on this album. The best one on here is What's my name, of course. It has Drake. I'm really sorry, but the rest is so bland. Theres nothing "loud" about it. She put out the UBER-popular Only Girl(In the World), and now has the number 1 song in the nation with What's my name? People are going to be so sad...SMH. AND, PLUS we should all be tired of Love the Way You Lie by now. No, she put 2 more versions of this song on there. I mean, come on. I love Rihanna. And I'm not bagging on her, (and this might sound cliched) but she can do so....so....SO much better than this. I just cant get over how anticipated this cd was for the whole nation. I am so disappointed. Imagine: Thats exactly how this is. You would think with the EPIC change of sound on Rated R, this cd would have maybe something like that, with some pop-music from Good Girl Gone Bad, but no. Only Girl, in my opinion, is a horrible song. It defines the word "substanceless". Yet, even with its popularity, nothing on this album sounds like that. It's a complete fake-out. It's putting out a song that you know people will love as just a marketing tool. Going in the opposite direction, with the also popular Russian Roulette (which I think is just okay), again...NOTHING on this album sounds like that. Its almost as if she's confused as to what kinda of music she wants to put out. Its not "Oh, well, I just wanted to change up my sound to show my fans a different side of me." No. Heck No. How many times have we heard that before, people???? Anyway. I just hope that, maybe next time, when she figures out that rushing your album to make money is an absolute no-no, she'll make something great and worth the money and time. :-(
